Getting away is surely a luxury in this world, and one that should be thoroughly revered & enjoyed. Growing up, my family had not the means for such things as air travel, and despite this I can still recall as vividly as yesterday the many exciting road trips we took as kids, and think to how they must have saved my parents from going crazy at home with the four of us rambunctious island ragamuffins.

Getting away could be to anywhere, even if it's just camping in your backyard. It doesn't matter where you go, as long as you go. Even if it is just deep into your beautiful mind.

A change of scenery allows for regular life to be viewed differently, and from a totally fresh and new outside perspective. Have you ever had that wonderful and insightful feeling of being on the outside of your life looking in? I often get this opportunity on a long walk or run, but there are no words to describe the feeling of stepping out for a time to reflect, and rest, and be.

I'm happy to bring you all along to some of the views me and the family took together before heading back home here to the rainy side of Canada. I hope my kids remember these childhood holiday moments as fondly as I recall mine, even without the squashed rolls of toilet paper & well-used old foamies in the back of the old family car.
