I never mind sharing that when I was little, my siblings and I didn’t get a whole lot of treats. We ate extremely well, and my folks were on a tight budget, meaning that while we thrived, there were definitely more expensive “healthy foods” we just didn’t get to enjoy a whole lot: like grapes & kiwis & fresh berries. In the heat of the glorious summer we are having, it’s a given we’ll recall childhood memories of summers past as the familiar smells pass our noses and the sun flickers gently through the leaves on the trees once again. I don’t know about you guys, but these months are always slightly bittersweet, as each waft of the dry yellowed grass brings back a gentle shimmering essence of past summers spent growing, learning, loving, idling, and essentially becoming who we all are today.
